Plan Your Visit

Welcome to the Upper Cumberland Plateau—a peaceful, scenic escape filled with rolling hills, lush forests, and the gentle snorts of nearly 200 rescued Sanctuary Babes at Odd Man Inn. Whether you’re planning a day trip, weekend getaway, or full vacation, this guide will help you make the most of your time in Jamestown and beyond.

Best Times to Visit

Odd Man Inn is open for scheduled tours and special events year-round, but the best months for outdoor fun are April–June and September–October, when temperatures are mild and wildflowers or fall colors are in full display. Expect:

  • Spring (Mar–May): Cool mornings, lush greenery, occasional rain.
  • Summer (Jun–Aug): Hot, humid, and often buggy—but good for swimming/kayaking.
  • Fall (Sep–Nov): Crisp air, stunning foliage, and great hiking weather.
  • Winter (Dec–Feb): Quiet and rural—great for solitude, but dress warmly.
Late summer offers plenty of recreational opportunities in the nearby State Parks. Long-time volunteer Michael floats down the river; a 20 min drive from the Sanctuary.

Odd Man Inn provides 100% donor-funded animal services, including:

  • Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) – 97.5 miles (~2.25 hr drive)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) – 123 miles (~2.25 hr drive)

...and Who We Are

Odd Man Inn is powered by a small team of talented humans dedicated to the cause of animal rights and welfare. A great majority of the work here is volunteer-based, and it is always focused on improving the lives of our Sanctuary Babes. While physical “rescue” is an important part of the equation, lifelong sanctuary care is an essential part of what we do.
