Even when an animal is lucky enough to land in a sanctuary, they still find themselves vulnerable if a succession plan has not been put in place. NoNo lost her home when her Washington sanctuary closed down due to the sudden death of one of the founders. OMI helped emergently provide care for their animals, including medical transport for spays and rehoming. NoNo was one of the last girls left, and she didn’t have a place to go–so we took her in. She was one of our eldest gals, but still sassy and opinionated! She loved to eat…loved to swamp…and loved her pig friends. She shared a house with Eppah, Frances and Ziggy, but she was a confident pig who made friends wherever she went. NoNo’s life was beautifully diverse and interesting, but she thrived with the consistency in caregiving we were able to provide her. We’re very proud we have created a truly safe space here for our residents.
Arthritis is a terrible thing for our pig friends. NoNo struggled with it pretty severely the last few months. We tried all the meds we could to help her, but arthritis wins every time.
We were sad to lose her, and we honor her by choosing to celebrate the fact that she lived her life here in peace and safety, with all of her needs met. She will be missed by all of her friends in the MedBarn Neighborhood and her human caregivers.
