Luna was an independent, confident lady who had lived here as a Sanctuary Babe since she was a baby. Born in 2019 and rumored to be discarded as the runt of a litter, Her favorite friend, Journey, arrived around the same time and they grew up together. Luna spent most days exploring the holler and searching for the best nap spots.
Luna had the absolute worst feet for as long as we’d known her. She had been in and out of the hospital multiple times, and we’d tried very hard to help her. The latest visit was more of the same problems for her tiny little feet on her huge body. The infection wouldn’t respond to the antibiotics, and we sadly made the decision to let her go.
Caring for vulnerable animals who were selectively bred for what their bodies can produce means we have a lot of Sanctuary Babes who struggle as they age. Giving Luna an additional five years of life may seem like not long enough, and it’s not, but we’re very proud we helped her manage these issues for as long as possible.
Luna was a beloved member of the Cabin House Neighborhood, and she will be greatly missed by Journey and her other friends there.
