Truffles was one of the 159 pigs surrendered to Odd Man Inn when we moved to Tennessee in 2021. The pigs on the property had no medical records, which made it very challenging to provide emergency care on the ground upon arrival. Truffles was one of the very first to need emergency care for a seriously injured back. While we did not know Truffles well, we knew immediately that she was in need of urgent vet care, and we helped her get that care.
Odd Man Inn spent the first few months triaging cases like Truffles to the University of Tennessee for evaluation, and we sadly were not able to save pigs who were too far gone. The best we could do was help them achieve a peaceful passing. There were many in the first few months who had waited far too long for humane euthanasia, and it was a daunting task to come in and fix that for them.
Truffles’ life ended with as much dignity as we could achieve for her, and we are extremely grateful to our vet partners for helping us.
