Marsha is a very young classic Hampshire pig who turned up as a stray. She’s a production girl. No one has these pigs as pets. They are ONLY bred for eating. She’s the same breed as our sweet Sissy who recently passed, and Sissy was over 800 pounds. She is about 6 months old, which is typically when they are slaughtered for meat.

Lucky for her, she arrived at a property loosely connected to our very kind and compassionate farm vet who lives in Memphis. They spent a few days training her to walk into a dog crate before transporting her to us. It is extremely unlikely a pig like Marsha would end up in a sanctuary, but here she is! She had the Sanctuary Babe Special at the University of Tennessee and is currently in quarantine. After finishing her time in quarantine, she has moved to the Garden House Neighborhood and is being mentored by MollyJo.
