In loving memory of...

Baron

Baron was a very large Red Wattle and was one of the 159 pigs surrendered to OMI when we moved to Tennessee and took over the herd in 2021. Baron, one of the most gregarious and friendly boys in the Cabin House Neighborhood, lived with a huge herd of older pigs including Puddles, Easter, Kiwi, Scarlett and Sally Mae.

Elder care is a critical component of managing an enormous herd of Sanctuary Babes. We spend endless hours lovingly tending the most vulnerable of our family, and we walk them home when we feel confident they are ready. Baron had been struggling with mobility issues for quite awhile and despite all of our tricks, he continued to decline.

He passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family of pigs and humans, all of whom respected him as an individual. It is an honor and a privilege to help them finish their journey in the most dignified way possible. We’ll see you on the other side, Baron sir.
