Leave a Note in Memory of Muad’Dib

Muad’Dib was a very shy orange and white boy we rescued from a local animal shelter. He was passed over for transport out of the area many times because he had an eye issue and was deemed a “poor adoption candidate.”

Since our arrival in Tennessee in 2021, we have worked with many local organizations to help stray cats and dogs, many of whom are desperate for the most basic of resources. What we have learned from Muad’Dib and many other stray cats that turn up on our property is that they are rarely feral, but mostly just unsocialized and scared. We tried a barn cat program for a short while, but determined quickly that the loss of wildlife and potential loss of the cat is not something we are comfortable managing. Odd Man Inn is recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat from the National Wildlife Federation, which means we are committed to keeping wild friends safe. This means we do not keep barn cats any longer, but instead we work to rehabilitate and socialize them for adoption through our partnership with the Nashville Humane Association.

Muad’Dib was our last barn cat.
