We had such a good discussion as we analyzed the wildlife photographs in our Fall 2025 Book Club session on “Photography as Advocacy” that we didn’t have time to look at sanctuary photography in the same detail.
For the January BBC, we will take a close look at sanctuary photographs, including a selection from OMI, and we’ll talk about aspects of photography that are especially important for representing our residents and the realities of sanctuary work to the public. Photography is a visual language, and we’ll talk about how it works to communicate meaning across a range of advocacy platforms.
