We received an email asking for help with vet care for Janice. The email stated “I can’t get the vet to come out or call me back, and she’s had a really bad limp for a long time now”. She was specifically looking for help with that ONE pig, but we dug into the story a little more and discovered Janice had two other family members, Camilla and Scooter.
These three “Muppets” were living at a place in rural Tennessee that prides itself on living off the land. They also breed and sell animals as a way to make money for their family. If we had left Camilla and Scooter behind, their fate would have been to stay trapped in the world of exploitation of lives for profit. We simply asked if they would surrender all THREE pigs, and they thankfully agreed.
Janice was taken promptly to the University of Tennessee where they diagnosed her with a broken olecranon in her right elbow as the source of her limp. The only way to FIX this problem is with a very advanced elbow replacement surgery, which Janice will be having done in December. If you’re able to help donate towards Janice’s medical expenses, please visit her “GoFundMuppet” page, and make sure to leave her a little love note!
