Wilbur Patrick Henry was his full name and he was a survivor of the meat industry. He was a Yorkshire, of which we have many. They can live into their teens when they’re given the chance, and Wilbur was only six. Most of his kind are trapped in factory farms all across the world…pigs JUST like Wilbur. Billions of them. They live lives of misery and sadness, yet we KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that they’re gentle, thinking, feeling, intelligent, family-centric beings.
When we took over his care, he was at the top of our triage list due to some pretty dramatic weight loss and he was hospitalized four separate times. Skinny Wilbur was robbed of a full life because of an infection we simply couldn’t fix. It was absolutely tragic. We tried everything to help him recover from his illness, and we lost.
He lived here with his actual pig family, including his sister Penny. He was loved and cherished and respected by all of us. If we could love Skinny Wilbur, we can love them all. They’re no different…EVERY pig is as special as Skinny was.
