Jill (aka “Jilly Bean”) is a mature female who lives in the Feral Neighborhood with her brother Jack. Jilly is the quieter member of the sibling pair, a fiercely independent lady who enjoys her space. While Feral pigs typically live healthier, longer lives than their genetically bred counterparts, Jilly is a feral-mix and was found to have uterine cancer during an emergency spay surgery in Spring 2023. Mature, genetically bred female pigs have a high risk of reproductive abnormalities, so Jill was transported to the hospital after showing signs of illness–a true red flag for prey animals. Thanks to the skilled care Jill received at UT, she recovered quickly and successfully returned to her life of leisure and asking humans to stay out of her space…and we are so very glad to oblige.
