Description
In October 2023, we took on the enormous task of replacing 20-year-old fencing along the north perimeter of the property. The neighboring property is frequented by hunters, and we felt a more secure perimeter was imperative to keep the animals safe. The fencing was changed from T-posts and rusty cattle panels to a STURDY construction of wood posts set 8-feet apart and 2’x4′ no-climb fencing.
Funding
This project was crowdfunded by a social media campaign that raised just over $18K for the materials. A single donor helped us complete the project at the very end when we needed professional help to stretch the fencing through the holler.
Challenges
Fencing nearly a half mile of rocky and hilly terrain that included “the holler” was inordinately difficult! Our small team did most of the prep work, including setting nearly 200 posts, and we sought professional help to do the parts we did not feel physically equipped to accomplish. The fencing is now complete, and we feel great about the look of the project!
