When vulnerable stray animals in our rural community are fortunate enough to find someone willing to help them, we do all we can to encourage that little shred of compassion!
A neighbor had been feeding “a stray little pig” for the last few months, and he called to see if we could help her. We live in an incredibly animal ag heavy community that fishes and hunts and open-carries on the regular. He could have chosen a far different fate for her when she showed up looking for help. Instead, he cared for her and gave her a ride straight to our quarantine barn…because he knew we existed, he had a different option.
Please help us welcome Moira, one very lucky lady, to the safety of Sanctuary Babe Life! For the record, she is no “little” pig. She’s at least 300 pounds, and he said she’s doubled in size in the last few months since he started feeding her. She will be going to the University of Tennessee soon for her Sanctuary Babe special. After she recovers, she’ll be joining one of the neighborhoods in GenPop.
Update:
Moira Rose went in for her spay and, much to our surprise, they discovered SHE’S A MAN-PIG! In true OMI fashion, we’re keeping his name as is. Moira is currently being integrated into the Northwest Neighborhood–pending Sid’s approval.
