Petunia is a mature female potbelly who lives in the Med Barn with her motley crew of friends: Doc, Dixie, Hamlet, JoJo, Hazel and Willie. Because she is deaf and partially blind, Petunia navigates her world with her extremely sharp sense of smell, strong instincts and a little help from her friends. She is a fairly quiet pig, and her human caregivers take great care to respect Petunia’s space and sensitivities. This special care was extended to Petunia by our amazing vet partners at UT, when Petunia was spayed as part of our effort to ensure every female receives the healthcare she deserves. Petunia had a number of reproductive abnormalities found during her spay surgery. Having a team that could meet her psychosocial needs even in the hospital environment allowed Petunia to achieve better reproductive and overall health with minimal stress.
