In loving memory of...

Edward

Edward was one of the kindest, sweetest, happiest pigs we have ever known.

He had a way of making everyone happy. He was always glad to see you, whether you walked on two legs or four. Human or pig alike, Edward greeted the world with gentleness, warmth, and an open heart. Odd Man Inn has always been an organization that helps the ones who are messy, discarded, and left behind.

That was Edward.

He was an unaltered male, possibly someone’s pet, abandoned after a foreclosure, left behind among piles and piles of trash. When the new property owners called us for help, we said yes. Edward came to us needing care, including addressing a huge abscess on his back end. From there, his Sanctuary Babe life began. Edward was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and given the healthcare and love every animal deserves. It was a Cinderella story for a beat-up little black Guinea Hog who had lost his family.

But Edward was never defined by what had happened to him. He was defined by who he was: deeply gentle, endlessly sweet, and so full of joy. Edward chose to make his home in the Cabin Houses, living among some of the largest pigs at the sanctuary. Little Edward slept under the awnings beside large pigs like Easter, Sally Mae, and Falkor, completely at ease and exactly where he belonged.

Edward was taken from us suddenly and violently on April 1, 2026, when loose dogs broke through two fence lines and attacked both him and Daisy. Daisy’s wounds were treatable, but Edward did not survive.

There are losses that do not make sense. This was one of them.

Edward was a gentle, loving, sensitive guy. He deserved safety. He deserved peace. He deserved so much more time. We will remember the happiness he brought. We will remember the sweetness he carried so naturally. We will remember the way he made everyone around him feel lucky just to know him.

Edward will always live in our hearts. May we all aspire to be as gentle, warm and joyous as he was. We will always be Team Edward.
