Falkor came to us in late 2023 from a woman who loved him dearly. She had saved him years earlier from an abuse and neglect situation, but she no longer had the capacity to care for him, and she bravely reached out for help. She’d done the hardest part—saved him from what had been a very rough life–and then took the responsibility to keep him safe. The difficulty in that task alone is enormous. He was a huge, grumbly, unaltered male that didn’t fit in ANYWHERE. When she reached out for help, we knew immediately that he would fit in perfectly with us. A 650 pounds opinionated man-pig is always welcome here.
Falkor had all he needed as a Sanctuary Babe. He was neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He had his old ear injuries surgically mended. He had plenty of food and pig people he loved in the Cabin House and Northwest Neighborhoods. He had the freedom to do whatever he liked, which was sleeping and eating and swamping. He had caregivers that respected his individuality and personhood. He also served as our second HOA President in 2025.
Falkor passed peacefully overnight in his favorite sleep spot, beside his favorite pig friends. The initial necropsy immediately revealed a very enlarged and sickly heart. His time was simply up, and we were all so saddened to lose such a magical floof-monster.
Falkor was loved. That’s the magic ingredient many don’t ever get to experience. This is what we wish for ALL pigs. He is missed by us all and he leaves a huge hole in our hearts.
