In loving memory of...

Rosebud

Leave a Note in Memory of Rosebud

Rosebud, at fifteen, was one of the oldest and most frail residents when we took over the property in 2021. She lived in the MedBarn with her elder friend, Rufus.

End of life care is one of the most important things sanctuary caregivers provide. In cases like this, the discussion is “quality” of life. It’s a booger to deal with…not gonna lie. She could barely stand, so she just scooted herself from spot to spot, which was terribly difficult for her at her size.

Animals like Rosebud are rarely allowed this dignity as they age. And they rarely meet new friends who come along to help, but she was loved and respected on her final “freedom ride”. We knew it was Rosebud’s time to be set free, and the vets emphatically agreed…and thanked us for bringing her in to ease her pain.

Elderly huge pigs are a blessing to befriend, and she was a charmer. It was an honor to care for you at the end of your life, Rosebud.
